Yes, we absolutely work with first time authors. Our services are available to anyone seasoned or new to the literary world.
Unfortunately, no. We are not what is known in the industry as a ‘vanity’ publishers, nor are we a hybrid publisher. Vanity publishers will usually guarantee publication of any book, usually for high fees and with occassionally an impersonal approach to customer service. Hybrid publishers, although quite often authentic and valid will also guarantee publication but ask for a significant contribution towards the publishing of your book. Often these kind of companies will ask for a portion of your future royalties as well as exclusive publishing rights.
Our author services are designed to help self-publishing authors create the best version of their book ready to for it to be launched. We also offer assistance with setting up your publication on KDP and IngramSpark and consultations on future marketing of your book. The actual self-publishing is up to the author. Although we charge fees for our work we do not take any stakes in the publication so you, the author, retain full rights and all future royalties.
We do operate a small publishing imprint but this is a highly selective imprint and we cannot guarantee any submission will be chosen to join our catalogue. We only guarantee publication to authors who are contracted with us.
No, while our publishing imprint is very selective in terms of genre and only publishes fiction, our author services are open to all fiction genres, and we are able to offer to non-fiction writers including memoirs, books on visual arts and children’s books.
Yes, generally we issue contracts for editorial work which protect both the rights of the author and their intellectual property and the rights of our company. We do not acquire the rights to your work as part of any author service contract.
No, absolutely not. We charge fees based on living wages and costs to our business. When you receive a quote from us you will be given full transparency as to our pricing structure. We do not take royalties as part of any of our author services or publishing packages for self-publishing authors.
Any extra charges for additional services would be made clear before commencing with the work. For example, if you have paid by deposit and have an outstanding balance for editorial services and later decided you wished to have a book cover made by us, we would discuss the cost with you before adding charges to your account.
