Hi, my name is Laura A Coats and I am an author, illustrator and book editor. Literature is my love and I believe that every book deserves to be read. Why should I hire an Editor?
Behind every good book there is a good editor.
No traditionally published book goes to print unedited. So why wouldn’t you hire an editor? Even if you intend to self-publish.
To publish a book that readers cannot get enough of there is a certain formula at hand. Like baking a fresh loaf of bread, there are certain conditions you need to get right to make that winning loaf that looks, feels, smells and tastes perfect; a product that would sell out in any bakery day-after-day.
Just as there are three key elements to breadmaking (ingredients, method and bake) there are three key elements to publishing a book: writing, editing and marketing.
The process of editing lines and drawing curves doesn’t have to be complicated
It can be broken down into six steps: Development, Copy Editing, Book Design, Proofreading, Publishing.
Development Editing: honing the structure of your writing
Copy Editing: polishing the text of your manuscript
Book Design: Formatting your manuscript and creating a cover or book jacket.
Proofreading: Giving the book a final readthrough to eliminate any minor errors in the text or formatting.
Publishing: packaging your book up ready to send to a self-publishing platform or literary agents or traditional publishers.

Editing and Publishing services don’t have to cost the Earth.
In fact, at Lines and Curves, you will be offered very fair and reasonable rates for my services based on realistic and transparent pricing.
Many editorial businesses may assume that if you are a writer, you probably have plenty of money and spare time on your hands, and charge flat fees for all.
I operate on a case-by-case basis and I am happy to offer different rates depending on your income, experience and background. I offer rates which are affordable and fair with negotiable concessions for students, pensioners, single-parents, neurodiverse debut authors and people on a low income. I understand how hard it is, when you have a wonderful story but every editor out there seems to want far more than you can afford. Book Jacket Design
From concept to creation, I can design the perfect cover or book jacket for your story. All of my work is created by hand (not AI!), using the latest industry standard technology and my many years of experience in art and illustration. I work closely with authors to find the right tone and concepts to represent their work in a unique and eye-catching way.
